Frequently Asked Question
Medicare: What does Medicare cover?
Medicare Part B covers diagnostic hearing tests when ordered by a doctor or non-physician provider such as a NP or PA. Medicare also allows patients to see an audiologist without a doctor’s order once a year for certain non-acute conditions such as hearing loss that develops over time.
Medicare DOES NOT cover hearing aids. Some Medicare Advantage Plans such as Excellus BC/BS, AARP, UHC, Humana and Aetna offer varying amounts of hearing aid coverage, or reduced pricing on hearing aids. Contact your plan to check for coverage.
Insurance
Currently our provider Kathleen Burch is in network with Medicare, UHC including Empire Plan, MVP, and BCBS.
Third Party Insurance
Some insurance companies, including those with Advantage Plans, work with a “third party provider” which is a company that administers the hearing aid benefit for them. We are a provider for some of the largest third party companies including Tru Hearing, United Health Hearing Care/EPIC and Amplifon.
